Heart of Texas Retired and Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP) is a nonprofit national program that recruits, manages, and supports senior adult volunteers over the age of 55. Federally sponsored by the Corporation for National and Community Service, RSVP is part of the Senior Corps which has almost 500,000 volunteers nationwide. The Department of the Aged and Disabled and McLennan Community College sponsor this program housed at the community college. The Heart of Texas RSVP covers a six county region and currently manages 1,200 volunteers at 90 station sites.
RSVP is working with nonprofits to match skilled volunteers with agencies that have short term needs. Volunteers provide support through training, restructuring systems, fundraising, and serving as temporary staff.
